The Sea Wall

Work on The Mafeking Woman has been put on hold while I continue my research, but in the mean time I'm working on a really exciting project, The Sea Wall. This is the story of my friends extraordinary childhood and it has been waiting to be written for a couple of years. I'm happy to say that it's finally in the works.

Now Available in Kindle

Yes The Undermerchant's Woman is now available as a Kindle ebook.  You can purchase the Kindle version as well as the paper version on amazon.com and Amazon.ca.  It's now also available on barnesandnoble.com

The World's Biggest Book Store

I attended a book signing and reading event at The World's Biggest Book Store last weekend. It was a quiet day because our event coincided with the Gay Parade. However I met two other wonderful local authors and their books sound truly amazing.
They were: Kevin Lobo presenting his book Brighter Red - An Immigrant Son Envisions Canada available through Amazon and Sandra Bea Harries author of a historical novel Madame de Champlain - Quest for Sanctuary available through Chapters Stores.
Check these books out as they both sound marvelous.

The Mafeking Woman

My new book is progressing rather slowly. But that's not a bad thing. I always feel that the writing is the easy part. Okay so that is perhaps a simplification, but first of all it's all about research. So I have temporarily stopped writing while a read Thomas Pakenham's book THE BOER WAR. Normal service will be resumed...

National heros

I am currently reading Bernard Cornwell's latest novel The Fort. As an author of historical novels I love studying history and Bernard does it, and writes about it, so well.  What intrigues me about history is discovering the truth behind what we've all been taught at school. How national heros are created from the smallest events and how the truth often shows us just how fallible they really were.

One of Cornwell's characters in The Fort is Americas great hero, Paul Revere and Cornwell does a wonderful job of portraying the weaknesses and fallibility of this man.  I can highly recommend this book.

New year - new book

Well, now that the holiday season has been and gone, life is settling back to normal.  My second book "The Undermerchant's Woman" has been sent to my publisher and I have now started writing my third novel "The Mafeking Woman".  This one takes place during the siege of Mafeking in 1899, during the Boer War.

Looking out of my office window it is dull and snowing. I know that I should be writing but the drive really needs shoveling again before my car gets snowed in  LOL
